The current ships are more diversified in their shapes and uses. Particularly, many small ships have come to be built of FRP and large ships are in a trend to lighten their weights for their sizes. These induce the new requirement of a ship for a lower face pressure of a fender for the effective and safe berthing operation. BETA Type is a new type of a direct contact fender to respond the social demand mentioned above. Along with the wide contact area, this lowers the face pressure of BETA type by 45% than v-shape's.
